Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics exist to ensure high-quality scientific publications; control; public trust in scientific research; and that people receive credit for their ideas. The Global Journal of Earth and Environmental Science adhered strictly to the general standard and publication principles. The journal shall:
-
not influence the Reviewers, Editorial Board or Editor’s decision to her personal gain.
-
not compromise the integrity of the journal process for her personal gain.
-
give authors fair and equal treatment without regional, political and religious bias.
-
be transparent in all aspects of her dealings.
The journal shall compel all authors to adhere strictly to the ethical standards as prescribed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other related bodies.
Authors Contribution
All listed authors must meet the criteria for authorship (click here). Inclusion of a person who does not meet authorship requirements is a violation of ethical requirements of the Global Journal of Earth and Environmental Science.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism is an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author. The journal considers plagiarism a serious offense and only committed to publishing original materials that have not been published or under review elsewhere. Manuscripts that are found to contain unacceptable levels of similarity with other published works are rejected during the first stage of the peer review process.
Duplicate Publication
Duplicate publication or multiple publications refers to publishing the same intellectual material more than once, by the author or publisher. Duplicate submission also includes the submission of the same/similar manuscript in different languages to different journals. Authors are not allowed to submit a manuscript to more than one journal at the same time, either within or outside Integrity Research Journals. Authors that used their previous work as the basis for a submitted manuscript are required to cite the previous work and indicate how their submitted manuscript offers novel contributions beyond those of the previous work. Manuscripts that have been published elsewhere or currently undergoing review elsewhere will not be processed or considered for publication in the Global Journal of Earth and Environmental Science. Therefore, authors are encouraged to state clearly in their cover letter that the submitted article is not under consideration for publication in another journal within or outside Integrity Research Journals.
Redundant publications
This is when you publish several similar papers that are built on the same research idea. Your findings are more appealing if you harmonize them into one complete research paper. Redundant publication in the Global Journal of Earth and Environmental Science would attract sanctions.
Falsification of Data
Falsification, manipulation or fabrication of data is when the submitted manuscript(s) is/are found to have falsified experimental results or images. This is a violation of publication ethics. Any manuscript suspected to have fabricated or falsified data will be suspended pending when proper investigation is carried out.
Reference Manipulation
Reference manipulation is when articles contain references to other works and articles that do not contribute to the content of the present article for the sole purpose of increasing citations or misrepresent the importance of the specific work or article. Citation manipulation is unethical and must be discouraged. Authors should use only citations that are relevant to their manuscripts and irrelevant citations should be avoided.
Retractions
If there are errors that significantly affect the conclusions or there is evidence of misconduct, the Global Journal of Earth and Environmental Science editors will follow the COPE Retraction Guidelines to retract the publication. Editors consider retracting a publication if:
-
They have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of major error (eg, miscalculation or experimental error), or as a result of fabrication (eg, of data) or falsification (eg, image manipulation).
-
It constitutes plagiarism.
-
The findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper attribution to previous sources or disclosure to the editor, permission to republish, or justification (ie, cases of redundant publication).
-
It contains material or data without authorisation for use.
-
Copyright has been infringed or there is some other serious legal issue (eg, libel, privacy).
-
It reports unethical research.
-
It has been published solely on the basis of a compromised or manipulated peer review process.
Sanctions
Violations of any of the above mentioned publication ethics in the Global Journal of Earth and Environmental Science will attract severe penalties and sanctions. Such penalties and sanctions include:
-
Immediate rejection of the manuscript if it has not been published.
-
Immediate retraction of the manuscript from the journal website if it has been published.
-
Immediate blacklisting of the author for a period of time.
In cases where the violations of the above policies are found to be particularly egregious, the journal shall impose additional sanctions beyond those described above.
